Here at Reichheld Ting Orthodontics, we believe you deserve the perfect orthodontic treatment.
Choosing the right orthodontic treatment can be overwhelming, especially with the available treatments. Factors such as your age, the severity of your orthodontic issues, your budget, and your lifestyle all play a role in determining which treatment is right for you.
We love that so many great options are available, but how do I know which is best for my specific case? There are plenty of things to consider, and that’s why we’ve asked Dr. Jay, Dr. Tim, Dr. Steve, and Dr. Brian, to lay out a few descriptions of the different available treatments and who they may be best suited for.
So let’s get started! Read on to learn more!
Self-Ligating Braces – Reliable, Versatile, Effective
Traditional braces are the most common type of orthodontic treatment. They consist of metal brackets and wires that are attached to the teeth. Over time, the wires are tightened, moving the teeth into the correct position. This treatment is especially beneficial for children and teenagers, as early intervention can help prevent future orthodontic problems. At RTO, we use high technology self-ligating braces. These have doors on them to hold the wires in tighter which allows us to use lighter wires over a longer period of time than other orthodontic offices. This allows treatment to be faster and more comfortable!
Some factors to consider are that traditional braces can be more visible than other options and require extra care and attention to maintain proper oral hygiene due to the nature of the appliances. However, it’s important to remember that traditional metal braces are still the most popular form of orthodontic treatment due to their effectiveness, relative affordability, and reliability. They can be a great choice!
Invisalign – Innovative, Low-Profile, Convenient
Invisalign is a popular alternative to traditional braces. It uses clear plastic aligners that are custom-made for each patient, which are changed every two weeks. We’ll use the iTero Digital Scanner to take comprehensive 3D scans of your teeth and jaws – no goopy impressions! Then we’ll treatment plan and design your case and print out your customized aligners. At Reichheld Ting Orthodontics, we are proud to be awarded Diamond Plus status by Align Technology, the parent company of Invisalign. This means that RTO is in the top 1% of providers in the country for Invisalign. We can treat mild, moderate and severe cases with Invisalign. If you have heard in the past that you are not a good candidate for Invisalign, come in for a FREE consultation to see what we can do for you.
Invisalign is a great option for all but the most complex cases of malocclusion, but it’s important to remember that the responsibility for wearing your aligners falls on the patient, meaning it’s important to be disciplined and ensure that your doctor’s schedule is closely followed. If the aligners can be worn consistently, Invisalign is great for adults, teens and younger children.
Clear Braces – Discreet, Elegant, Striking
Ceramic braces are similar to traditional braces, but the brackets are made from clear or tooth-colored material, making them less visible. This type of treatment is best suited for patients who desire a less noticeable orthodontic treatment option. However, ceramic braces are a bit more fragile than traditional metal braces and require extra care and attention to avoid discoloration and damage.
While they’re great for patients desiring a low-profile option, some patients love to combine ceramics with bold elastic colors for a style that really pops!
Lingual Braces – Invisible, Powerful, Customized
Lingual braces are similar to traditional braces, but the brackets are attached to the back of the teeth, making them virtually invisible. This type of treatment is best suited for patients who desire a completely invisible orthodontic treatment option.
Surgical Orthodontics – Corrective, Comprehensive, Life-Changing
Surgical orthodontics is a type of orthodontic treatment that involves surgery to correct severe jaw abnormalities. This type of treatment can be done in combination with braces or Invisalign to improve the function and appearance of the teeth, jaw, and face. Surgical orthodontics is typically recommended for patients with severe malocclusions or bite problems that cannot be corrected with traditional orthodontic treatments alone. While surgical orthodontics can have a significant impact on a patient’s quality of life, it is typically reserved for severe cases and may not be appropriate for all patients.
